• Cecilia Travers

Cécilia joined Sandymount Park ETSS in September 2021, she teaches French, Learning Support, SPHE and Other Learning Experiences with the TYs. She is Progress Leader to Second Years and coordinates Transition Year with Lauren. Cécilia is passionate about getting the best out of the students in her care and preparing them for their role in the world of tomorrow. Educated in France and Germany for her Master’s Degree and Ireland for her H-dip in Ed, she has spent over 20 years teaching in Ireland as a language, resource, and wellbeing teacher including 10 years as an educator for the International Baccalaureate. She was trained to the International Baccalaureate values and ethos whose mission is to “empower young people with the skills, values and knowledge to create a better and more peaceful world.” Cécilia taught for 10 years in St. Andrews College, an Irish International school, where she set up and led the Modern Foreign Language Department. Her main values are the inclusion of all students in the learning process, student’s personal growth and sense of achievement, international-mindedness, global engagement, and service to the community.    

She has always been looking for innovative approaches to her teaching practice and has recently completed her Diploma in Creativity, Innovation, and Leadership in education with the UCD Innovation Academy and is piloting the SHOUT programme which links schools and communities, for the Innovation Academy.  

She is really looking forward to working with the Educate Together Ethos and values.
