John Sperrin

Irish, Spanish and Artistic Performance

John is a teacher of Spanish, Irish, CSPE, Ethical Education and Artistic Performance. He has a keen interest in language acquisition and the cultural aspects of a Modern Foreign Language.

He studied Spanish and Irish in UCD, where he spent a year studying in Zaragoza, Spain. After this, he completed his CELTA English teaching Course and taught English in Valencia before returning to Ireland to complete his Masters of Education in NUI Galway. He has taught in Donegal and Dublin.

John is interested in athletics and has previously established The Alliance and Spanish clubs, which he hopes to run in Sandymount Park ETSS, as well as using his links with Concern to raise awareness for poverty stricken countries across the world.

Nicole McMenamin

Home Economics, Science, Biology

Nicole joined the school in August 2020. She is a teacher of Home Economics, Science, Ethical Education, S.P.H.E, special education and a first year tutor. 

Nicole studied in St. Angela’s College, Sligo and obtained a Bachelor of Education in Home Economics, Biology and Science. She has also achieved a HACCP certification in food safety and hygiene.

Nicole has a keen interested in nutrition, textiles, sustainability and promoting a healthy lifestyle. She is also trained in first aid and is an apple certified teacher.

Conor Maxwell

Science, Maths and Coding

Conor has been with Sandymount Park ETSS since our opening day on August 27th 2018. Conor is passionate about Maths and Science and has a keen interest in using technology in the classroom to enhance student learning. Conor graduated from Maynooth University with a Bachelor of Science (with Education) degree and the Professional Master of Education.

Conor is heavily involved in all aspects of school life; supporting students and staff with all things IT related, coaching athletics and he particularly enjoys facilitating students to get involved in activities outside of school such as entering competitions like the Young Scientist and Young Environmentalist Awards.

Niamh Parkes

Music, SPHE, Ethical Education, SPHE

Niamh joined Sandymount Park ETSS in August 2019. She is passionate about music, art and student wellbeing. As a Tutor, Niamh ensures students are supported in all aspects of school life and facilitates after school activities such as Music Club and basketball. Niamh believes an education in music and the arts provides a strong holistic development for young people; building self-esteem and creativity and enhancing the overall school experience.

Niamh is a Bachelor of Music Education graduate from both Trinity College Dublin and Technological University Dublin. She has a keen interest in musical theatre, producing, directing and performing in stage musicals, leading singing classes provided by CÓRus, and conducting a weekly adult choir of 70 adults.

Aoife Fleming

French and English

Aoife joined Sandymount Park Educate Together Secondary School in August 2018 and teaches English and French. She enjoys extra-curriculars with students and coordinates the school newspaper, The Sandymount Park Press, poetry club and international film club. Working as Progress Leader to our Second Year cohort, she works closely with parents, guardians and the staff team to ensure each student is supported in their progress at Sandymount Park.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College (2010), Aoife returned to Trinity College to undertake a Professional Diploma in Education (2013). Currently, Aoife is undertaking a Masters in Educational Leadership at University College Dublin. Her main focus in same is the empowerment of student voice in post primary schools.

Paddy Ward

Business, Geography, Ethical Education and CSPE

Paddy has been with Sandymount Park ETSS since our opening day. He teaches Business and Geography and has a keen interest in the use of ICT in the classroom to enhance student learning and also in Building Learning Power; activating students as agents of their own learning. Paddy is an Apple Certified Teacher and a director of a website which specializes in online video tutorials for students and teachers. Paddy graduated from Maynooth University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Professional Masters in Education.

Paddy is heavily involved in all aspects of school life and many extra-curricular activities, including the Green Schools Committee and coaching Gaelic Football.

Ciara Raleigh

Art, SPHE, Additional Learning Needs Support

Ciara has been with Sandymount Park ETSS since our opening day. She teaches art along with resource, SPHE and home economics. Ciara coordinates Art Club and Photography Club and loves to encourage students to enter art competitions and challenges. Ciara has a lot of experience with school musical set design and loves to display students’ fantastic artwork around the school environment. Ciara also enjoys her role as a tutor helping students with their organisation and well-being.

A doodler from a young age, Ciara graduated with a BA Hons from UCD  before studying Fashion Craft. Ciara completed a PGCE in Art Education at the University of Reading and taught Art in the greater London area for three years. Ciara has also previously worked as an SNA giving her great insight into how to support students. She enjoys nurturing students’ curiosity, creativity, kindness and resourcefulness.

Caolan Hansard

Irish, Classics and History

Caolán joined Sandymount Park ETSS in August 2019. He teaches Gaeilge, History, Classics, CSPE, SPHE and Ethical Ed. Caolán graduated from St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Gaeilge and History and from Maynooth University as a Professional Master of Education.

Caolán is involved in many extra curricular activities; coaching both the boys and girls soccer teams and facilitating the board game club. As a Tutor to Innisfree, Caolán is active in supporting student’s day to day well-being and is supportive voice for all our students. Caolán has a massive interest in all things Liverpool Football Club, history and animals.

Lauren Eccles

English, Geography, Additional Learning Needs Support

Lauren has been with Sandymount Park ETSS since its opening in August 2018.  She primarily teaches English and Geography in our ASD class, but also helps our students to develop their social skills, independent living skills, and personal care.  As well as helping our ASD students reach their full potential, Lauren is extremely passionate about spreading autism awareness throughout Sandymount Park, and ensuring it is an autism friendly environment. 

Lauren graduated from Maynooth University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Geography.  She then went on to receive Masters in Applied Behaviour Analysis from Trinity College Dublin, before going on to complete the Professional Masters in Education in Hibernia College.

Anne Mulhall

Guidance Counsellor, Additional Learning Needs Support

Anne joined Sandymount Park ETSS in November 2018. She is the Guidance Counsellor and also supports our students with additional learning needs. She graduated from Maynooth University with a degree in German and Sociology and taught German and SPHE for many years. After completing her Post Grad in Limerick University in Guidance and Counselling in 2009 she moved into the role of Guidance Counsellor. She has completed training in CBT, Reality Therapy, Mediation and Conflict Resolution and Restorative Practice.

Anne coordinates the Student Council and the ‘Allies’, a student group responsible for running Stand Up, Kindness and Diversity activities throughout the school. She is enthusiastic and passionate about her work and obtains great fulfilment from assisting students with achieving their full potential.
