School Procedures
The procedures below are in place to ensure the safe, smooth, and effective running of our school. They align with our Code of Behaviour and support a respectful and productive learning environment.
Punctuality
- The school day begins at 8:30am with tutorial.
- Students may access their lockers in base rooms from 8:20am.
Late Arrivals:
- If a student arrives between 8:30am and 8:45am, they should go directly to tutorial. The tutor will record the lateness on VSware and place a late stamp in the student’s journal.
- If a student arrives after 8:45am, they must sign in at the school office.
- Students arriving late will not be able to access lockers and must hand their phone into the Phone Locker for safekeeping.
- Students can access their locker at break and lunchtime in their base room.
Parents/guardians can explain lateness via the VSware App.
Monitoring & Sanctions:
- The Attendance Coordinator monitors punctuality.
- Students who are late five times will be required to attend a Punctuality Reflection Workshop.
- The workshop takes place at 2:30pm on Thursday, 2nd October, and then on the first Thursday of each month.
- Continued lateness may lead to further consequences, in line with the Code of Behaviour.
Mobile Phones
- Mobile phones are not permitted during the school day.
- Phones must be switched off and stored in the student’s locker.
- If a student is found with a phone on their person or using it during school hours, the phone will be confiscated and placed in the Phone Locker System.
Phone Locker Collection Times:
Due to other responsibilities, the leadership team can facilitate phone collection only at the following times:
- Mondays & Wednesdays: 3:45pm
- Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays: 2:45pm
Please note: These times are fixed. No exceptions will be made.
- Repeated breaches of the mobile phone rules will be addressed through the Code of Behaviour.
Attendance
- Students are expected to attend daily, follow their timetable, and remain for the full school day.
- If absent, parents/guardians must notify the school via the VSware App.
- Early departures must also be communicated via VSware by 8:30am on the day. If not submitted in time, students must be signed out in person by an adult.
- All absences are recorded and reported to TUSLA in line with national guidelines.
Illness During School
- Students who feel unwell must inform their teacher, who will direct them to the school office.
- The school office will contact home to arrange collection.
- Students must not contact parents directly during the school day. This is to ensure safety and avoid disruption.
- For safety reasons, unwell students must be collected by a parent or guardian and may not leave school alone.
Toilets
- Toilets may be used before and after school, and during break and lunch.
- To protect learning time, toilet use during lessons should be minimised.
- Students must ask the teacher for permission and have their journal signed in the out-of-class section.
- During lessons, for safety, student access is limited to toilets in the administration block.
