What’s New for 2026/2027
What’s New for the 2026/2027 School Year?
As we prepare for the new school year, we would like to thank parents and guardians for your continued support in helping us create a school environment that promotes student learning, engagement and success. Please take a few minutes to review the key changes and updates that will come into effect for the new academic year.
Punctuality Matters – new daily late reflection
Arriving late disrupts learning, delays lessons and affects the smooth running of the school for both students and staff. Developing good punctuality is an important life skill that demonstrates responsibility and respect for others, while also preparing students for future education and employment.
School begins at 8:30am each day. Students should arrive by 8:20am to allow sufficient time to access lockers, organise materials and prepare for learning.
New Late Reflection Procedure
From August 2026, all students arriving after 8:30am must sign in at Reception.
To encourage punctuality and minimise disruption to learning, every late arrival will result in a 30-minute Late Reflection on the same day.
Late Reflection will take place:
- 3:35pm on Mondays and Wednesdays
- 2:35pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
Late Reflection will not apply where:
- A student is attending a medical or essential appointment; AND
- A parent/guardian records a note on the school app before 8:30am.
Otherwise, Late Reflection applies to all. Failure to attend Late Reflection, or persistent lateness, will be addressed in line with the school’s Code of Behaviour which can be read here.
Introducing the Unique Schools App
We are pleased to introduce the Unique Schools App, which will streamline communication and administration between home and school.
The app will allow parents and guardians to:
- Report student absences
- Receive important school updates and notifications
- Access key school information in one convenient location
Further information and setup instructions will be shared before the start of the new school year.
Yondr Phone Pouch System
As part of our commitment to maintaining a phone-free learning environment, we will introduce the Yondr Phone Pouch System from August 2026.
A phone-free school supports a safe, respectful and focused environment that promotes learning, wellbeing and positive social interaction. Following practical challenges associated with storing phones in lockers within student base rooms, Yondr pouches will provide a secure and effective system for managing mobile phones throughout the school day. Further information can be found in our Mobile Phone Policy.
Irish Language and Culture
In line with Circular 0050/2026, all First Year students will engage with Irish language learning.
Students who hold an exemption from the study of Irish will participate in Irish culture and conversational Irish classes without formal assessment. This arrangement will not impact access to learning support for students who require it.
We look forward to working together to ensure a positive and successful year for all students.
